Towards an African Green Industries Value Chain within the AfCFTA

Regional integration has long been seen as a critical means of creating the scale required to underpin deep structural transformation in Africa. In the context of transitioning to low-carbon economies, the AfCFTA has the potential to support a continental green industrialisation agenda. This requires greater synthesis between programmes and projects seeking to promote climate resilience and those aiming to advance industrialisation.

The African Climate Foundation hosted a webinar focusing on the AfCFTA as an enabler of green industrialisation, drawing special attention to building African green value chains. This webinar also launch our expert energy briefs (see reports).

This session was moderated by Maria Nkhonjera, our Energy Researcher. Speakers include Honorary Professor Dr Rob Davies and Professor Faizel Ismail – both from the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance.
