African Food Systems Transformation Collective

With countries across the continent facing increased economic and climate stresses, urgent measures are needed to build greater adaptative capacity and resilience into Africa’s food systems.

We believe that philanthropy has a catalytic role to play in supporting these interventions and improving the sustainability of Africa’s food systems. However, to do so it will need to be guided by a robust and coordinated strategy informed by a strong local evidence base. Thus, we’re pleased to have established the African Food Systems Transformation Collective to support this.

To do this, we will bring together a multi-disciplinary collective of African food system experts to identify key areas for intervention and fill key research gaps. The first engagements will take place in August 2023, convened by the DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Food Security. More information on the outcomes will follow.
